Turn an Accepted Quote Into a Job
For admins and office staff · Updated 23 Sep 2026
Once a quote is Accepted, its next step is Convert. It makes the records the work needs all at once: if any part of it fails, nothing is created.
Convert the Quote
- On the accepted quote, choose Convert.
- In Convert Accepted Quote, tick what to create.
- Choose Convert. The quote moves to Converted and links to what it made. If you created a job, it opens.
What You Can Create
- Create Job: a new job for the quote's customer and site, named after the quote, with the quoted labour hours as its estimate, the other lines as its materials, and the customer's purchase order number.
- Create Project: a project with the quote's value as its contract value, budgets from its labour, materials and subcontract lines, and a stage for each progress claim. A job created at the same time sits under it.
- Purchase orders: draft orders for the materials, equipment and subcontractor lines, one for each supplier the lines name. Lines with no supplier go on one order with no supplier set, for you to choose.
- An invoice: a draft deposit invoice when the quote asks for a deposit, otherwise a draft invoice for the full quoted value, due in 30 days. It goes through approval like any other invoice.
- Create Scheduled Tasks: a milestone on the project for each progress claim. It needs Create Project ticked.
Only the lines the customer chose are carried across. Options they didn't pick are left out.
To invoice an accepted quote later instead, see raising an invoice.
Projects and scheduled tasks need the Projects plan, and purchase orders the Commercial plan. On a smaller plan, leave those unticked, or the whole conversion is refused (why).
A quote with options that was marked accepted by hand keeps every option, so all of them reach the job, orders and invoice. Remove what the customer didn't choose after converting.
More in Quotes
- Build and Price a QuoteStart a quote, add its lines from the price book or an assembly, and set markup, contingency, discount and a deposit before you send it.
- Give the Customer Options and Optional ExtrasOffer alternatives the customer picks one or any of, and extras they can tick, and see how each choice changes the price on their link.
- Send a Quote for ApprovalEmail a quote or share its secure link, and what the customer can do there: accept with a signature, ask for changes or decline.
- Change, Revise or Close a Sent QuoteEdit a quote when the customer asks for changes, make a new revision for anything else, and what happens when a quote is declined or expires.
