Raise a New Job

For admins and office staff · Updated 24 Sep 2026

Every piece of work starts as a job. Deployr gives it the next job number, and the job then moves along its statuses until it's invoiced.

Creating the Job

  1. On Jobs, choose New Job. The Schedule has the same button.
  2. Pick the Customer. If the work is at one of their sites, pick the Site too.
  3. Give the job a Title: a short name such as "Coolroom 2 not holding temperature". It's how the job reads wherever it's listed or picked from a list.
  4. Set the Job Type and Priority, and add What Needs Doing if there's more to say than the title.
  5. To book it now, pick a Technician and a Date under Booking. Otherwise leave them blank.
  6. Choose Create Job. The job opens on its own page.

Only the customer and the title are required. Left blank, What Needs Doing takes the title.

Where the Job Waits

  • With a technician and a date, it goes straight to Scheduled. The booking goes in the job's Audit History, the customer is sent the booking confirmation if you use it, and the technician gets a notification.
  • With a Time as well, Deployr first checks the technician isn't booked at another site then. If they are, nothing is saved and the form names the job they're already on.
  • Without both, it waits in Needs a Tech on the Jobs board, and in Waiting on the Schedule, until someone books it. See Book a Job In and Dispatch a Technician.

Adding a Customer or Site on the Way

If the customer or site isn't there yet, the first item in each list is Add Customer or Add Site. It opens the form without losing what you've typed, and picks the new record for you.

Technicians can't add customers or sites, so those items don't show for them. Ask the office to add the customer first.

Changing a Job's Details

On the job page, choose Edit to change the title, site contact, job type, priority, customer PO, due dates, booking and description. A job raised before titles existed reads by the first line of its description, with Add a Title beside it.

The customer and site can't be changed once the job is saved. If the customer is wrong, cancel the job and raise it again.
