Working a Job on Site
For technicians · Updated 23 Sep 2026
A job opened from My Day is a deck of cards, one for each step, in the order the work is done. The button at the foot goes to the next step, Back goes to the one before, and swiping does the same. To jump to any step on a phone, tap All Steps under the job number; on a bigger screen the steps are listed beside the card.
The Steps
- Site Brief: access, induction, permits, hazards and the contact to call, then the site's assets, their last visits, and the manuals and documents.
- Arrive and Safety: mark yourself on the way and arrived, and Sign On to each SWMS the job needs.
- Checklist: tick off the job's checklist, and choose Mark Filled In for each form the office asked for. With no checklist on the job, Load a Checklist… adds one.
- Readings: tick the assets you worked on, or scan their code, and record their readings.
- Photos: Take a Photo or Add a Video of the work.
- Parts: put parts on the job from your van, or add something that isn't in it.
- Notes: work notes, voice notes, recommendations, and defects you couldn't fix with Record a Defect.
- Sign-Off: what's still open, the customer's signature, and the service report.
A step this job doesn't need says so. The foot button skips it, but you can still open it.
Taking the Job On
A job the office has booked for you asks you to Accept Job first. If you can't take it, choose More, then Reject Job…, and give a reason: the job goes back to the office unassigned and leaves your day.
Completing the Job
- On Sign-Off, hand the phone to the customer to sign, type their name under Their Name, and choose Save the Signature.
- Choose Complete Job. If anything on the deck is still open, or the customer hasn't signed, Deployr lists it and asks before it completes the job.
- To send the service report, type the address under Send To and choose Email the Service Report. Left empty, it comes to you.
Once a job is complete, only the office can reopen it.
The service report only goes to people who sign in to your Deployr, such as office staff and portal customers.
More, on Every Card
More at the top of each card opens:
- Time and Timer, to clock your time on this job. See Clock Your Time and Submit Your Week.
- Notes and Defects, without leaving the card you're on.
- Requests to the Office: ask for parts, help or a quote, or raise follow-up work.
- Navigate, and a button to call the site contact.
- Report Incident or Near Miss…, to record a safety incident on this job.
- While you're on site, the holds your business uses: Pause Job, Hold for Parts or Hold for a Return Visit.
Photos, videos, voice notes, readings, the customer's signature, timers and emailing the report need a connection. Status moves, checklists, forms, SWMS sign-ons and typed notes save on the phone and sync later. See Working With No Signal.
