Working With No Signal

For technicians · Updated 23 Sep 2026

Plant rooms and basements often have no signal. Deployr keeps your day on the phone so you can keep working, and sends your changes to the office when you're back online.

Before You Head Out

  1. Open My Day while you have signal.
  2. Choose Offline Pack, then Download the Pack. Once there's a pack on the phone, the same menu offers Update the Pack.
  3. Check the line beside it, which says when the pack was taken.

The pack holds your open jobs, their customers, sites and assets, the manuals and site documents, checklists and parts, and earlier finished jobs at the same sites. Browse the Pack shows what's in it.

What Works Offline

  • Saved on the phone and sent later: status moves (on the way, arrived, complete, pause and resume), checklist ticks, forms marked filled in, SWMS sign-ons, typed notes, recommendations and defects, parts added from the list, and requests for parts, help or a quote.
  • Needs signal: photos and videos, voice notes, readings, the customer's signature, timers and time, emailing the service report, raising follow-up work or a purchase order, and taking parts out of the van's stock.

A part put on a job offline goes on the job but doesn't come out of your van's stock. Adjust it on Van Stock once you're back online.

Signing In Without Signal

If you've used Deployr with signal on this phone in the last 7 days and haven't signed out, it opens with no signal and says "You're offline". Your day is on My Day; other screens stay empty until you're back online.

Don't sign out with no signal: signing back in needs a connection.

When You're Back Online

Your changes sync by themselves when the phone reconnects. My Day and each job's cards say how many changes are waiting on the phone; choose Sync Now to send them straight away.

Deployr sends each change field by field. Anything the office hasn't touched since your phone last saw it goes straight in, and new lines in a job's history from both sides are kept.

When a Change Clashes

If the office changed the same thing while you were offline, My Day says how many changes clash. Choose Resolve, and for each job pick Use My Change or Keep the Office's Version. The other one is dropped.

Messages to the customer, such as the completion email, aren't sent for moves made offline.

A change to a job that has been deleted, or is no longer yours to see, stays on the phone as waiting to sync. Ask the office about that job.
